How We Support Canine Companions for Independence
Henry Schein, Inc., is proud to support Canine Companions for Independence with our Henry Schein Cares - Canine Companions Puppy Raiser Care Package. Our care package provides essential products and care that Schein and other Canine Companion puppies will need during their training.
“As veterinarians, we enter this profession because we can think of no higher calling than to provide for the health and safety of animals. It is an incredible honor to work with Schein, who will provide a deserving child or adult with greater independence, companionship, protection, and so much more.” Dr. Donna Violet, who has raised 13 Canine Companions puppies and helps provide the medical care for several of the CCI puppies as they grow.

Schein is the "mascot" puppy for Henry Schein Animal Health and our partnership with Canine Companions for Independence. He has an important future ahead of him. Schein is being raised and specially trained to become an assistance dog. He is going to be partnered with a child or adult with a disability to assist with daily tasks and increase their independence by reducing reliance on other people. Schein is being raised by Sallie, a volunteer puppy raiser, who will care for him and train him for 18 months. He will then graduate and enter special training with Canine Companions, and ultimately find his “furever home” with a human companion who needs his help.
